Move & balance

Follow my path

Take turns leading a short route around safe household landmarks.

10 minutes

What you'll need

Clear route through one room

Before you start

Can move independently in their usual way

Best fit: either · active energy · medium caregiver effort · low mess

How to play

  1. Lead around two visible landmarks.
  2. Invite your child to lead back.
  3. Copy their route exactly.
Make it easier

Use one landmark and stay close.

Standard

Take turns leading a short route around safe household landmarks.

Extend it

Add a movement at each landmark.

What you might notice

Navigation, memory and pleasure in being followed.

Keep it safe

Use only flat soft floor markers in one clear dry level room, never furniture or doorways. Match the route to the child's existing crawl or walk, use no speed or climbing, stay within arm's reach, and remove markers afterward.

Why it may be useful

This adds a short burst of active play with room to practise balance, coordination and whole-body movement.
